Former Clemson Assistant Heads Up List Of Favorites To Land At South Carolina

The odds have come out on who will become the next head coach of the South Carolina Gamecocks and former Clemson assistant Billy Napier leads the way among the list of favorites.

Shane Beamer, who is the asst. HC for offense at Oklahoma, is considered the odds-on 3rd favorite (5-1) to become South Carolina's next head coach, according to @betonline_ag.

One thing that could make this more interesting will be what the SEC may have to say about one of the front runners. Will they block a hire of Hugh Freeze this time like they did when Nick Saban wanted to add him to the Alabama staff in 2018.

Freeze resigned at Ole Miss back in 2017 after he was found to be making phone calls to a number associated with a female escort service. It was the final nail in the coffin for the embattled head coach who also had some questions about some of the recruiting classes signed during his tenure.

The Rebels were placed on three years probation along with a bowl ban in 2018 for violations that occurred during Freeze’s tenure there.
