Clemson and Florida State have a long history that dates back to the 1970’s and is probably most well known for the Puntrooskie play from the Danny Ford era and the games between Seminole legendary head coach Bobby Bowden and son Tommy while he was the head coach of the Tigers (Bowden Bowls). The Seminoles have hit hard times of late though and it has not helped the series.
That was even more evident Sunday when the Tigers opened up as a 33 point favorite for the upcoming matchup. This is the largest point spread Clemson has ever had against Florida State.
Clemson currently holds a five game win streak over the Seminoles and beat them last year 45-10. It’s been so bad in Tallahassee that during the game two years ago many laughed and joked about the fact that the game was so out of hand that one fan was sitting all by himself reading a book. The Tigers beat Florida State 59-10 on that day.
Injuries have not helped this years Seminole team and it hasn’t helped that Florida State head coach Mike Norvell announced last week that they would be without even more players for the rest of the season including former starting quarterback James Blackmon who has decided to transfer.
