(WATCH) Recruiting: Jake Briningstool One Of Best TE Prospects In Recent Years

The Clemson football team has not had a legitimate pass catching threat at tight end since Jordan Leggett left after the 2016 season. That isn’t to say the Tigers haven’t had decent tight end play the past three seasons, they have. They’ve just used them in a different way.

Braden Galloway was supposed to be that guy in 2019, however a year long suspension derailed those plans. He is back for the coming season and showed fans a glimpse of his playmaking ability in last year’s playoff.

The Tigers have now ensured stability at the position by bringing on 2021 tight end prospect Jake Briningstool. Out of Ravenwood High School in Brentwood, Tennessee, the 6-foot-6, 220 pound Briningstool is a four star player and rated as the nation’s best high school tight end in the 247 Composite Rankings.

Jake Briningstool Recruiting Profile

  • 247 Sports: 4 star, No. 5 TE, No. 146 Overall
  • ESPN: 4 star, No. 1 TE, No. 86 Overall
  • Rivals: 4 star, No.2 TE, No. 57 Overall
  • 247 Composite: 4 star, No. 1 TE, No. 71 Overall

Obviously the recruiting services are high on his potential, but now we have Sharpe Sports calling Briningstool the best tight end prospect they have ever seen.

“Clemson Tiger Commit, Jake Briningstool, is the best high school tight end of all time!!! The Class of 2021 Tight End is the perfect blend of size, agility, and physicality making him one of the most talented TE prospects of all time!!!”

Sharpe Sports

That is pretty high praise, no matter who it is coming from. Whether or not he is the best prospect at the tight end position of all-time is debatable, but there is no arguing over the amount of talent he possesses.
