Tigers Win In Extra Innings

Davis Sharpe was just that…. Sharp through 6.0 innings.

In his 6 innings he gave up just 5 hits while getting 6 strikeouts and held the Seawolves scoreless. The Tiger pitchers as a whole had 12 total strikeouts, while giving up 8 total hits to Stony Brook, while walking just one batter. The Tigers improved to 6-0 on the season while the Seawolves fell to 1-5.

Clemson left 8 runners on base again in today’s matchup while Stony Brook left 9 of their own runners stranded. Going into the 10th the Tigers had more batters hit by pitches (3) than they did hits (2).

The Tigers started the tenth inning with a strikeout by Sam Hall. Then Mac Starbuck singled up the middle. Kier Meredith walked, moving Starbuck to 2nd. This gave Elijah Henderson the opportunity to become the hero for Clemson when he took a 2-1 pitch to right center field for a single that drove in the winning run and end the game, walk off style. Henderson went 2-2 on the day with 2 hits and 1 RBI on the day.

The series finale is scheduled for noon and will see RHP Nick DeGennaro (Stony Brook) going against RHP Spencer Strider (Clemson).
