The Tigers (5-0) will take on Stony Brook (1-4) Saturday afternoon in the second of a three game series at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. Saturday’s matchup is scheduled to start at 3pm and will be televised on ACC Network Extra.

Clemson rode the arm of Sam Weatherly to a 2-0 win on Friday. He totaled 14 strikeouts in 6.0 scoreless innings of two-hit ball. This was the first ever meeting between the Tigers and the Seawolves.

In Saturday’s matchup RHP Sam Turcotte will take the mound for Stony Brook while RHP Davis Sharpe will get the baseball for Clemson. The Tigers will look for Sharpe to get them their second straight series clinching win on Saturday, and help the Tigers pitching staff continue the early dominance that they have shown.

Clemson’s pitching staff came into this weekend with a 1.25 ERA, a .144 opponents’ batting average, and a 2.00 strikeout to walk ratio. The staff also came into the game ranked 19th nationally with 50 strikeouts and added 19 more to that total Friday. This puts them among the best in the country in strikeouts so far this season.

The Tigers will try to get the bats going early in the game Saturday and hope they can find a way to get some hits with runners on base. They had the leadoff batter reach six times on Friday and only scored 2 runs while leaving 6 runners stranded.

Clemson came into the series averaging 3.8 runs a game and hitting .282 with a .387 on base percentage. They also had a .385 slugging percentage with six steals coming in, and added 5 more swipes Friday.

It looks to be a cool, but sunny day in Tigertown for todays matchup. Most fans will be hoping the Tigers bats and arms warm up DKS early and often, and stay that way throughout.
