Clemson won its fourth straight to start the 2020 baseball season, knocking off Furman 3-2 on Wednesday afternoon at Doug Kingsmore. Freshman Mack Anglin got the start, going 3 innings, and allowing 2 runs (one earned) on one hit.
Anglin did walk 4, but showed why he was so highly touted by striking out 7. Another freshman, Nick Hoffman picked up his first career win in relief of Anglin, going 3 innings, giving up 2 hits, and striking out 3.
Freshmen Nick Clayton and Geoffrey Gilbert both kept their stellar work, throwing a scoreless inning each. Carson Spiers picked up his second save with an inning of scoreless relief.
The bats struggled on a cool, dreary day at the ballpark. The Tigers managed just 3 hits, with 2 coming from Elijah Henderson, and struck out 9 times.
Next up for the Tigers is a weekend series with Stony Brook.
