If you are planning to head off to New Orleans for next Monday nights national title game but have yet to buy your tickets, prepare to open that checkbook. The CFP National Championship Game featuring #1 LSU and #3 Clemson facing off is currently the fourth most expensive championship game in the CFP era.
With the title game being played in New Orleans and one of the teams being LSU, demand has been high, particularly amongst the LSU fan base. Many are predicting a de facto home game for them. While it is very likely to be a crowd that leans heavily towards the Bayou Bengals, it won’t be like a home game seeing as Clemson was allotted 23,500 tickets, and sold them out.
The average ticket price on the secondary markets is hovering around $2300. A few days back, the cheapest tickets were going for just over $1200. However, on Saturday night there were a few on StubHub, as well as VividSeats for just under $900, and many available at a price ranging anywhere from $900 to $1000.
One thing is certain, for those that are making the trip, these two teams should put on a show. Both feature explosive offenses that are led by two dynamic quarterbacks. Currently, LSU is a 5.5 point favorite, while the ESPN FPI is leaning the other way and favoring the Tigers from Clemson, albeit slightly.
The game will take place next Monday night, January 13 in the Superdome, with kickoff set for 8pm. ESPN will have the broadcast.
