Week 10: Games That Could Impact Clemson

It’s hard to believe that it’s already November. It feels like the season just started and here we are, already into the final stretch of games.

Today won’t bring us the most exciting slate of games but there are some that could have an impact on the Tigers.

NCST at Wake (Noon ESPN)

The Demon Deacons have absolutely owned NCST of late, particularly at home. If Wake can get by Dave Doeren’s Fightin’ Laptops and Va Tech in Blacksburg next weekend, that would set up a showdown for the Atlantic in Clemson on Nov 16. Who’d have thought? The Deacs might have to do it without starting QB Jamie Newman though. He’s still trying to get back after being injured vs Louisville. If he can’t go, the Deacs will have to once again turn to Sam Hartman. It could be worse, ask NCST. Coming out of the bye week, the Pack have decided to give Devin Leary a shot. Coming into the season he was the third string guy and he’ll be the third QB Doeren has tried this season.

Georgia vs Florida (3:30 CBS)

This one is an elimination game. The loser is out of the playoff and the winner all but locks up the East. The Dawgs are about a touchdown favorite but haven’t played well of late. A loss to UofSC at home was followed by a lackluster effort on the road vs Kentucky. The Gators offense has been better since Kyle Trask took over at QB but they’re missing some guys off that defense.

Virginia at UNC (7:30 ACCN)

One never knows what might happen from one week to the next in the Coastal. If one of these teams wants to have their doors blown off by Clemson in Charlotte though, today is a must win. Virginia has been a disappointment so far and the Heels have been a little better than expected. Can that Cavaliers defense put the clamps on freshman QB Sam Howell, or will Bryce Perkins and the UVA offense finally get going?
