On Sunday, the Walter Camp Foundation recognized Isaiah Simmons outstanding performance against Syracuse by naming him their Defensive Player of the Week.
Simmons was instrumental in the Tigers D limiting the Orange to just 187 total yards, and just 51 in the second half. He had a team high 11 tackles, along with 3.5 TFL and 2 sacks, and has become exactly what most envisioned him being in the SAM/Nickel role. Through three games, Simmons has 27 tackles, two sacks, and a pass deflection.
Simmons was also honored by the ACC for his play, being named LB of the week. Trevor Lawrence was named Co-QB of week, and John Simpson was named Offensive Lineman of the week.
This marks the third time since the beginning of last season that the Tigers had three players named ACC Players of the Week at the same time. It happened after the Texas A&M game last season and again after the 21 point win over UofSC.
