Most Intriguing Week 2 Matchups

To be blunt, they’re really aren’t any. There’s not a single game pitting ranked teams against each other. So instead of calling them the more intriguing matchups, let’s just look at a few that might interest Clemson fans.

Alabama at UofSC

No Stephen Garcia, no Marcus Lattimore, and no Steve Spurrier. This isn’t your 2010 Gamecock football team, regardless of how many miles of offense you accumulated against Charleston Southern last week. Guess what, so did Furman the week before. There’s a reason Bama is more than a 4 TD favorite and it starts up front. Can the Gamecock OL and DL hang with what Bama brings to the table? Not likely.

FSU at UVA

When was the last time the Noles were an underdog heading into UVA? It’s been awhile. However, this isn’t one of those Noles teams from yesteryear, this is the Willie Taggart version. The Noles team that needs tricks to get by FCS teams and loses to G5 teams. How much damage can Bryce Perkins do against this FSU D that just hasn’t been very good?

NCST at West Virginia

Dave Doeren takes his Mighty Laptops on the road this weekend to Morgantown. Two games into the season and it’s easy to grasp why Dana Holgerson might have been in such a hurry to bolt the society of couch burners in favor of a non P5 gig. The Mountaineers offense is a mess. Their running game is non existent. NCST was supposed to be rebuilding but have played well the first two weeks. A statement win on the road could give the national media pundits a team that could give Clemson a run in the Atlantic. All they’ll really be doing is serving them up as sacrificial lambs.
