Big Doings In the Big City: Road Trip for Four Special Clemson Tigers

Marcus Tate, Will Shipley, Phil Mafah, and Beaux Collins are going on a fun and educational road trip. It was announced via the Clemson Football Twitter account that these young student-athletes will spend a week at the NFL Headquarters in NYC for what is simply a mini-internship. They will get an up-close view of the inner workings of this multi-billion dollar behemoth.

One has to suspect it will most likely be a kid in a candy shop kind of experience for the four road trippers. While I’m not privy to these young men’s personalities, it doesn’t take a clairvoyant to know four 19-20-year-old young men in the Big Apple means a whole lot of fun.

Tate is a promising sophomore offensive lineman is poised to see a lot of playing time this season. Shipley is the sophomore running back phenom who missed all of spring practice due rehabilitation after a postseason surgical repair of a foot injury.

Mafah had his coming out party this spring and looks to make a huge impact for the Tigers. Finally, Collins, os a sophomore wide receiver who also missed part of spring practice but is poised to take a huge step forward this season to help the Tigers’ passing attack.

For those of us that live vicariously, lets hope, upon their return to little ole Clemson, they’ll share some of their escapades with Tiger Nation. While I know what happens in the city, stays in the city, I’m sure they’ll likely share the parts of their trip that don’t stay in the city. Ahh, to be young and alive on a road trip. Let’s just hope everything goes as planned. Godspeed, stay free from injury, and enjoy your week.
