2022 Roster Management Outlook: Cornerbacks

Heading into the season, the Tigers were pretty thin at corner. However, despite the multitude of injuries Clemson faced, they managed quite well at cornerback.

Looking ahead to next season, the Tigers lose two players from this group, both of which made their mark during the 2021 season. The first is Andrew Booth Jr who struggled with nagging injuries and inconsistency over his first two seasons but finally was able put it all together turn in his best season in at Clemson.

The other is Mario Goodrich. The two combined to give the Tigers two first team All-ACC corners.

Goodrich didn’t start 2021 as hyped as Booth but he turned into the shutdown corner that the staff expected him to be finishing sixth on the team in tackles, second in pass breakups, adding a pair of interceptions, including a decisive pick-six in the bowl game. He also forced a fumble late in that game that ultimately sealed Clemson’s victory.

2022 Cornerbacks

Sheridan Jones: A senior that will most likely be the leading candidate to step in as a starter next year. He saw playing time in all 13 games and had three starts over the 2021 season.

Fred Davis: Davis has been with the program two years and enters his junior season with hopes that he can stay out of trouble and contribute on the field.

Malcolm Greene: This former four star recruit is in line to begin his junior season as the starting nickel. To this point in his career he has played in 22 games (three starts) and had 30 tackles (20 solo, 3.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks).

Nathaniel Wiggins: Another former four star recruit who had three tackles and three pass breakups in 130 snaps over 11 games as a true freshman for Clemson. Wiggins could be looking at a much larger role in 2022.

2022 Class: This cycle saw the Tigers sign three corners. They were 5-star Jeadyn Lukus, 4-star Toriano Pride Jr., and 3-star Myles Oliver..

Roster Management: Clemson usually like to carry seven corners and after signing the three in this recruiting cycle they sit right on that number.
