This Week in Clemson Basketball: Tigers Hope to Continue Where They Left Off

Clemson vs. Virginia, January 4, 2022 9pm

With the recent COVID-19 related cancellation of the match-up with Duke the Tigers move on and hopefully pick up where they left off. Brad Brownell’s Tigers are riding a five game win streak.

The Tigers (10-4) meet the Virginia Cavilers ( 7-7) in friendly confines of Littlejohn Coliseum. Clemson handily defeated the Cavaliers 67-50 on December 22, and while Virginia isn’t the same Virginia of the recent past, the Tigers did win in John Paul Jones Arena and won convincingly. Something they have not been able to do in quite some time. Every win is important, especially in conference play.

The offense has been pretty impressive, ranking in the Top-25 in offensive production and No. 38 in the Kenpom rankings. Add it’s usual stingy defense and this team could make some noise within the conference this season. Sure there’s Duke, UNC and Miami to contend with but one game at a time. There is a sense of optimism as Brownell’s Tigers seem to be riding an upward trajectory. With Hunter Tyson, PJ Hall, David Collins, Al-Amir Dawes and Nick Honor leading the team in statistics, Naz Bohannn and Alex Hemingway have been major contributors in other ways. Here’s a video recap of this game

Clemson vs. NC State. January 8, 2022, 12pm.

On Saturday night, January 8, Clemson hits the road to play NC State in Raleigh. The Wolfpack (7-7) have struggled at times, but again, any time the Tigers go on the road, especially to Tobacco Road, it’s a big game.

This season, I will be breaking down each game, giving stats, comments and my perspective. While Clemson Basketball is 14 games into this season, (1-1) in conference play thus far, the real season is just beginning. I’m looking forward to spending the remainder of the season, “the meat of the schedule” with you.
