Dabo Swinney On WR Depth: ‘We’re Experienced at Not Having Guys’

Clemson has been hit hard by the injury bug this season, and at almost every position on the field.

However, no position has been hit harder than the receiver room. Joseph Ngata and EJ Williams have been hurt more often than not in 2021. Frank Ladson missed pretty much the entire season and is now in the portal and Ajou Ajou got passed by on the depth chart by two freshmen and also decided to bolt.

With Justyn Ross out and Williams’ status uncertain for the Cheez-It Bowl matchup against Iowa State, Dabo Swinney’s Tigers are once again in a very familiar spot.

“Well, we’ve had seven scholarship receivers out of the last two games so we’re beyond that now,” Swinney said. “We just roll with it.”

As Swinney has maintained all season, the Tigers will go with whoever they have and no matter how far down the depth chart they go, the standard remains the same. Once again expect to see a lot of Beaux Collins and Dacari Collins, as well as some of Will Brown and Drew Swinney.

“We’re experienced in not having guys,” Swinney said. “And really there is nothing you can do but get the next guy ready.”
