Former Clemson standout Deandre McDaniel has some strong feeling about how the transfer portal is impacting college football.
Currently a defensive analyst for the Tigers, McDaniel says the portal is hurting more players than it’s helping.
“This TRANSFER PORTAL will Kill more Careers than Help! It’s embarrassing. Kids are leaving as freshmen and sophomores… It’s 2100+ kids in the portal hoping to sign when HS Seniors are honestly the priority. LETS EDUCATE THESE YOUNG MEN!! It’s becoming NFL Free Agency.”
While McDaniel made it clear he isn’t against players being able to transfer, he wants to see more education in the process and thinks players leaving a school without a destination already in place is a huge risk. The numbers bare that out, as many players who enter, never come out.
