Clemson currently has five blue-chip defensive backs in its 2022 recruiting class. It is without question Dabo Swinney’s best secondary class to date and arguably one of the best in the history of the program and defensive backs coach Mike Reed has been a major part of it.
With so much success in the 2022 cycle, 247Sports has named Reed as one of the ten-best recruiters in the country, ranking him at No. 9.
Mike Reed:
Total recruiting points: 66.97
Average recruiting rating: 96.40
Clemson commits recruited in 2022 cycle: 3
Five-star Mauldin (S.C.) cornerback Jeadyn Lukus headlines the three Clemson commits thus far for which Reed has been the primary recruiter. Lukus ranks as top overall prospect from South Carolina, the No. 6 overall cornerback and No. 32 overall prospect within the 2022 cycle, per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Reed was also the primary recruiter for four-star cornerback IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) Daylen Everette and four-star Lutheran North (St. Louis, Mo.) cornerback Toriano Pride.
