Two of Clemson’s top targets in the 2022 class are set to announce commitments on Saturday.
4-star CB Daylen Everette and 5-star S Keon Sabb, both out of IMG, will make their announcements on CBS Sports HQ. Sabb makes his commitment at 4 pm, while Everette goes next at 5 pm.
While nothing is set in stone, many feel Sabb is headed to Clemson. Georgia is thought to be the Tigers biggest competition.
However, getting a read on Everette has been more difficult. At first it seemed like he was headed to North Carolina, but as the decision date draws closer, it’s been hard to know exactly who the favorite is. Clemson or North Carolina?
North Carolina is closer to home, as his parents live in Virginia and it’s also close to his brother,, who goes to school less than an hour away from the Chapel Hill campus. At the same time, the way Clemson has developed it’s corners has really hit home with Everette. Look no further than AJ Terrell, a first round NFL pick in the 2020 draft.
Make no mistake, hitting on Sabb and missing on Everett is still a big win, but getting both would be a grand slam. Clemson already has commitments from two blue-chip defensive backs and landing both would double that number. Clemson is also considered to be the favorite to land Jeadyn Lukus, a 4-star in-state cornerback.
The Tigers have never signed more than three blue-chip defensive backs in any one class under Dabo Swinney. If this coaching staff can reel in all five players, that would be some kind of haul.
