Daylen Everette is set to announce a commitment on July 17.

By all accounts, this battle is down to Clemson and North Carolina. The Tarheels have already locked up commitments from two corners in this class and are looking to add a third.

The 4-star corner and his family have taken two different trips to Chapel Hill in recent months, while they were at Clemson for the spring game. Everette visited on his own with some teammates from IMG back in June.

One of those teammates is Jihaad Campbell, who just committed to Clemson two weeks ago. How much impact that has on Everette’s decision is hard to know, if it has any at all.

North Carolina has been considered by some to lead in this recruitment, but not by a very wide margin. It’s actually been hard to gauge if that is even true due to Everette playing things so close to the vest.

Tarheels cornerbacks coach Dre Bly has grown into a force on the recruiting trail and he’s played a pivotal role for UNC in this recruiment. If they do manage to land him, much of the credit should probably go to Bly.

However, don’t discount the Tigers and Mike Reed. Corner is a position that Clemson doesn’t have a ton of depth at and the possibility of early playing time has been a selling point for the Tigers.
