#FlashbackFriday: Tigers Dismantle Bama In 2018 Title Game

For today’s #FlashbackFriday we go back just a couple years to 2016, when the Tigers destroyed Alabama to capture the school’s third National Championship in program history. The 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship game was played at Levi’s stadium in Santa Clara, California on January 7, 2019, and pitted the Tigers against the Tide in the playoff for the fourth straight season.

In this chapter of the matchup, the Tigers defeated the Crimson Tide by a score of 44–16, giving Clemson the championship and a perfect 15–0 record. The Tigers became the first undefeated team in the CFP era to win the title and the first team to finish 15–0 in a single season since the 1897 Penn Quakers.

The 28 point loss was also the largest margin of defeat for Alabama during the Nick Saban era and the largest overall since Alabama’s 31 point loss in the 1998 Music City Bowl.
