MELT Founder Predicts Trevor Lawrence Sits Out The 2020 Season

MELT Founder and CEO Vince Thompson was a guest on Paul Finebaum’s show today and made one of the boldest predictions of the season. MELT is one of the nations largest independent sports marketing agencies.

While speaking on the subject of whether or not Tua Tagovailoa would enter the NFL Draft or return to Alabama for the 2020 season, he offered up this hot take,

“I still will state to the fact that I think Tua comes back next year, and I’m going to give you one more prediction today: Trevor Lawrence sits out next year.”

Actually, this goes beyond being a hot take. It leans more towards being absurd than anything. Or comical, depending on your perspective. Guess this guy forgot that Lawrence was asked point blank about this very subject back at the beginning of spring practice. He very bluntly said it wasn’t something he’d consider doing.

“Nah, no. Everyone’s talking about that, but I don’t really care about that. It’s definitely not coming from me, all that stuff, so I just kind of ignore it and keep working.”

Lawrence also had this to say in an interview with ESPN when asked about him possibly sitting out a bowl game in the future.

“Sitting out bowl games and stuff, that’ll never be me. You won’t have to worry about writing those stories.”

Unfortunately, we are living in the era of the hot take. Every mouthpiece with a microphone has one. And these days, when one guy gives his hot take, the next guy tries to outdo him by coming with one that’s even hotter, and that is all this was.

Thompson is no doubt tuned into the college football world. MELT does do work with ESPN’s College GameDay, so his name does carry some credibility. That credibility took a small hit with some fans today.
