After teasing us with a fast start and taking a 33-27 lead into halftime, the Tigers fell flat in the second half and lost 72-53 on the road to FSU. Clemson shot 46% in the first half, and held FSU to just 37%, but the second half was an entirely different story. Clemson went ice cold after the break, shooting just 26%, while FSU heated up and shot 60%.
FSU started the second half on a 10-0 run. Clemson didn’t score for the first 4 minutes of the half, and they could never recover against a team whom they were outmatched against from the start. KenPom only gave Clemson a 17% shot to win. The Tigers just do not have the depth, nor the size.
Tevin Mack led the team with 14 points, and Al-Amir Dawes added 13, with 11 coming in the first half. Aamir Simms had 8 and Curran Scott had 7.
Chase Hunter and Alex Hemenway are both still out injured but Clemson did get some good news today. Injured big man Jonathan Baehre returned from his ACL injury, and played 13 minutes.
The Tigers drop to 5-4 on the season and next up is rival South Carolina. The Gamecocks come to Littlejohn next Sunday, December 15th, with tipoff scheduled for 5pm. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
