Isaiah Simmons was named a finalist for the Lott IMPACT Trophy, the second time in as many seasons that a Clemson Tiger has been named a finalist. Last season, DT Christian Wilkins made the final cut for the trophy, which is awarded to the nations top defensive player “who embodies the characteristics of Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.”
Simmons is one of four finalists, joining Ohio State S Jordan Fuller, Auburn DT Derrick Brown, and Cal LB Evan Weaver. Back in week 3, Simmons was the Lott IMPACT player of the week for his performance in the teams 21-20 win over North Carolina.
He leads the team in tackles, tackles for loss, sacks, and QB hurries. He was a preseason All American, and a mid season All American. The winner will be announced on December 15.
