Brad Brownell and his Tigers get set to play their first games away from Littlejohn this season as they head to Las Vegas to play in the MGM Resorts Main Event. Clemson is a part of the Heavyweight Bracket along with TCU, Colorado, and Wyoming.
Opening round games are set for Sunday night, with the consolation and championship games to be played on Tuesday night. All games in this bracket will be held at T Mobile Arena.
The Tigers face off with a 4-0 TCU team tonight at 10:30 pm. The game will be televised on ESPN2, with Pete Yannity and Jim Davis providing the commentary. TCU has yet to face a P5 opponent and are coming off of a 59-58 win over UC Irvine last Thursday night.
Clemson comes in at 4-1 and have shot the ball very well since their loss to Va Tech in the opener. This team will need that kind of shooting if it is to have any modicum of success this season. They will also need consistent performances from Aamir Simms and Tevin Mack.
Mack has been everything Brownell hoped for so far after landing the grad transfer over the offseason. He is leading the team in scoring with 15 PPG and has shot 42% from three. Simms has been steady so far as well, with 9.4 PPG and 8.6 RPG.
If the Tigers can get by TCU they will play the winner of the Wyoming (3-3) and Colorado (3-0) matchup on Tuesday night at 11:30 pm in the championship game. If they can not get by TCU, they will play the loser of that game in the consolation matchup on Tuesday night at 9 pm. The championship game will also be televised on ESPN2.
