Wake Forest at #3 Clemson

Wake Forest (7-2, 3-2) comes to town this weekend in what will be the final home game for the 2019 season. It will also be Senior Day, as many Tigers will be running down that hill for the final time. The Tigers are currently a 34.5 point favorite over what is basically the second best team in the ACC. That is just one of many examples of how down the ACC is this season. Not to knock the Deacs, but when Wake Forest is the second best team in the league, it is a down season for the conference.
Wake is coming off of a 36-17 loss in Blacksburg to Virginia Tech. The Hokies shut the Deacons offense down, turning in a motivated effort for longtime defensive coordinator Bud Foster, who is retiring at seasons end. The loss knocked them from the top 25 and turned what looked like a matchup of top fifteen teams into just another game. They also lost one of their top two playmakers in WR Sage Surratt, who leads the ACC in receiving yardage with 1001. His 11 TD catches are also tops in the league.
Wake has had a very productive offense this season, especially when QB Jamie Newman has been healthy. Losing Surratt hurts them in a big way though, and they were already at a huge disadvantage from a talent standpoint to begin with. Let’s take a look at the numbers from each team.
