Tigers OL Preseason Candidate For Prestigious Award

Today the Chick-Fil-A Foundation released its preseason watch list for the Wuerffel Award

Each year the Wuerffel Trophy is given out to the FBS player that exemplifies excellence in community service with athletic and academic achievement. The award is named after former Heisman Trophy winner Danny Wuerffel.

Today, Clemson offensive lineman Sean Pollard was one of 91 players to be named to the awards preseason watch list. Pollard was one of ten players on this season’s watch list that were also on last seasons watch list.

Pollard has received much praise for his work with the “All Off For Cancer” campaign, which helps bring awareness to pediatric cancer. Last summer, with the help of some teammates and players from the women’s basketball team, the campaign raised over $10K, more than double the original goal of $5K. Pollard plans to make it a yearly event.

The winner of the award will be announced December 10, with the actual presentation taking place on February 14.
